It’s not uncommon for a dog to dig under the fence and get out of the backyard but it’s where this one ended up that seems almost unbelievable. This 3 yr old Chihuahua-Dachshund mix named Corbin dug a hole under a fence in his backyard in Texas, on March 25th and was found Saturday tied to a bench outside an animal shelter in Ohio!
A surveillance camera at the Animal Friends Humane Society in Hamilton, Ohio recorded a woman leaving Corbin at the shelter late Friday night. Staff found him the next day. The shelter was able to locate his owners through a microchip.
His owner Mike Saiz says “They called my wife and she told me that they found our dog, but she didn’t sound happy about it,”. “I asked if he was OK and she told me he was fine. I then asked where the shelter was and she said, ‘Hamilton — not Hamilton, Texas, but Hamilton, Ohio “.
Nobody knows how he traveled more than a 1,000 miles.
