Maureen Holloway –
Yet another Canadian actor named Ryan is getting booed at the Cannes Film festival. Tuesday, we learned that Ryan Reynolds was so dismayed at the reaction to his movie “The Captive” (directed by Atom Egoyan) that he skipped the after party.
Now comes word that Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut “Lost River” is being trashed at the festival. Reviews range from “unthinkingly offensive” to “WTF”. Maybe the two Ryans are drowning their sorrows together in some French watering hole:
“Hey, aren’t you that Ryan Dude from Canada? You know, who went out with a bunch of hot, famous actresses and made a stinker of a movie?” “Yeah.”
Great news Saturday Night Live’s Bill Hader has signed a deal with HBO to create and star in a new comedy series. No idea if it will be based on such characters as Stefon, or Vinni Videchi. Hader was also a writer for SNL, and also for South Park, for which he won two animated Emmys. (The Emmys were not animated – the show was.)
