Boffo box office bonanza, Batman! Excpet it was not Batman but X-Men: Days of Future Passed that knocked Godzilla out of the top spot at the movies this weekend.
The mutant superheros took in $90.7 million and critical raves – it has already made $262 million worldwide. ‘Zilla is in second place, followed – steel yourself – by Adam Sandler’s “Blended”, which took in 14.2 million despite the fact that everyone says it’s a giant piece of poop.
Emma Watson graduated from Brown University this weekend with a degree in English Literature. 10 points to Gryffindor. The English actress took 5 years to get her degree from the ivy league university, as she took a break in 2001 to promote the final Harry Potter movie. Otherwise, she regularly attended classes, thus allowing Shailene Woodley to establish a career.
And a bunch of middle school parents in Miami were given a treat when they attended a school concert. One of the other parents got up to sing with the kids at the Miami Country Day School, and it turned out to be Phil Collins, who has not performed in 3 years. Phil retired from music in 2011 so he could be a full time dad to his two sons, and he sang some of his biggest hits, including “In the Air Tonight”. He was apparently in great form, but I bet that didn’t stop his kids from saying “Dad, that was SO embarrassing”…
