Forbes is out with its annual most powerful celebrity list, and it won’t surprise you to hear that Beyonce is at the top. Forbes uses some sort of algorithm based on a combination of money, fame and impact to determine who rules popular culture, and Beyonce rises to the top with 115 million in income, dozens of magazine covers, social media presence and a far reaching business empire.
Her husband Jay Z is in 6th place with 60 mil. Bet you those two don’t get together every month with a shoebox of bills …
LeBron James is in second place. El BJ is exploring free agency these days after opting out of his Miami Heat contract. While the entire world is waiting to see where he’s going to play, he took his son fishing. Caught a little tuna.
In third place is Dr. Dre, who earned more in the past 12 months than anyone in the history of the Forbes Celebrity 100. Dre’s earnings are pegged at $620 million thanks to Apple’s purchase of his Beats by Dre for $3 billion. AND HE’S NOT EVEN A REAL DOCTOR.
Oprah Winfrey, who used to dominate the list, is now in 4th place. Her network, for the record, finally turned a profit, so she could be on the rebound. Never underestimate the big O.
Ellen DeGeneres rounds out the top 5. Apart from dominating daytime TV, and breaking the Internet with her Oscar selfie last February, Ellen is now producing shows for NBC , the CW, and HGTV. She is also the only white person in the top 5. Not to sound racist about this. It’s not like she’s an acolholic or an apple eater.
