It is a death metal band so perhaps muffling the sound by performing inside a box is a good idea…
A British death metal band, Unfathomable Ruination, is putting on three shows a week this month from inside an airtight, soundproof box and they’ll keep playing until the oxygen runs out.
The performance is part of an art installation called Box Sized Die outside The Gherkin in London. The piece is by Portuguese artist Joao Onofre. People who attend the performance will get to observe vibrations from outside.
On its Facebook page, the band said “according to medical professionals … we’re all going to die. Challenge accepted.”
“When we start realizing we can’t breathe, we open the door,” the band said after its first performance Wednesday.
The performances will take place until Aug. 1 as part of the Sculpture in the City festival.
