This family has created a bucket list for their dog battling cancer.
This is the story of a 5 year old American Bulldog mix named Marsha who had a pretty rough life up until now. Before arriving at a Humane Society in Littleton, Colorado Marsha had been abused. Her owner who adopted her, Judy Jaros, said in an interview “she often ran wild and had birthed countless litters of puppies. She had so many problems when she came in: She had an infection. She had a broken toe. She had a bullet in her elbow.”
Judy and her husband fell in love with her and decided to adopt her but the day they were to take her home they were told she had stage 3 skin cancer and her prognosis wasn’t good. Judy and her husband decided to make the most of her life considering how it started. They have created a type of bucket list for Marsha.
“We’ve taken her camping, fishing. She loves to play in tall grass. We just decided we’re gonna hike and camp. We go fly fishing.”
They are checking off all the things Marsha loves doing and are taking her on new adventures.
“She doesn’t act sick, so we don’t think, ‘Oh poor Marsha, she’s a victim of cancer,’ ” “We just think, ‘It’s another day with Marsha. Let’s do something fun.’ And it’s been such a blessing.”
“She had a really hard life. She deserves a chance, and yeah, it might break the bank, but it’s money. Whatever. She’s brought us more joy, she’s just priceless to us, so it was worth it.”
What a great idea. Sniff sniff.
