TTC bus runs a red light and nearly kills a woman pedestrian (WATCH VIDEO). Leafs hire 28-year-old Kyle Dubas as new Assistant GM. Justin Bieber is reportedly the new Calvin Klein underwear model, and the rest of the world collectively burns every pair of CK’s they own.
TTC BUS RUNS RED, NEARLY HITS PEDESTRIAN
The Toronto Transit Commission says it’s investigating after a video emerged Monday morning of a bus running a red light. After the bus runs the red light, it nearly strikes a woman pedestrian. The incident occurred at Ionview Road and Eglinton Avenue in Scarborough around 9:15 am, according to the description on the YouTube video. A dashcam showed the bus driving right through a red and swerving just as a pedestrian crossed Ionview Road. “Clearly, based on the viewing of this video, there was an opportunity for that bus to stop,” TTC spokesman Brad Ross told CityNews.” Given that the pedestrian stepped off the curb and the bus had to swerve to avoid that pedestrian, that is concerning and that is why we need to review this.”
LEAFS NEW 28-YEAR-OLD ASSISTANT GM
Brendan Shanahan made his first major change to the front office Tuesday, firing assistant GM Claude Loiselle and VP of hockey operations Dave Poulin, and hiring 28-year-old Kyle Dubas as assistant GM. “He’s not tied to any old ideas,” Shanahan said of Dubas. “I believe we have people in our organization who have maybe been afraid of certain words and certain information who, once you speak with Kyle, I think he makes it seem much more logical and easy to apply.” Hiring Dubas — the former Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds GM — brings the hope of fresh ideas and could make the Leafs more willing to embrace different philosophies.
DOUG FORD CLARIFIES REMARKS AFTER CRITICISM
Doug Ford is backing away from a comment he made claiming that Mayor Rob Ford has done more for, and has more support among the black community than Barack Obama. Ford told Newstalk 1010 on Monday that “there is no one that has helped the black community as much as Rob Ford has” and that the mayor would get more votes from the black community than “President Obama did.” Doug Ford’s comment drew heavy criticism, with many at city hall referencing the more than 15 million black voters casting their ballots in favour of Obama in both 2008 and 2012. In 2010, a total of 383, 501 Torontonians voted for Ford. Ford’s comment came after Ward Two candidate Andray Domise stated that the black community would not vote for the mayor in October, given the repeated racist remarks he has been alleged to have made. Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Doug Ford said the media has “twisted around” his comments.
MALAYSIA AIRLINES FLIGHT 17
It is a national day of mourning in the Netherlands for the victims of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. The first bodies are on their way from the Ukraine to the Netherlands where the jetliner originated. A top Ukrainian official says he has no doubt. It was a Russian that fired the missile that brought down MH17. U.S. officials said yesterday they believe pro-Russian rebels were responsible for shooting down Flight 17, but they now believe it’s likely the rebels didn’t know the plane was a commercial airliner when they opened fire.

After flashing his designer Calvin’s in a number of Instagram snaps, it appears that Justin Bieber is the latest underwear model for the Calvin Klein brand after claiming he’s done his first photo-shoot for the designer. Reportedly, he is now following in the footsteps of Marky Mark, Jamie Dornan, Kellan Lutz and supermodel Kate Moss by fronting a campaign for the fashion giant. So if you’re like me and hate this kid, I guess you’ll be throwing out all your CK underwear as well…
