Maureen Holloway –
Hugh Grant is ready to star in his first romantic comedy in 5 years. In a movie called The Rewrite, Grant will play a charming, bumbling washed up screenwriter. This is not to be confused with the romantic comedies where Grant plays a charming, bumbling washed up songwriter, or the one where he plays a charming, bumbling washed up pop star, or a charming, bumbling washed up book seller. The Rewrite comes out October 8th.
The movie everyone is talking about – well, maybe not everyone, but everyone at the Telluride Film Festival, which just ended, is “Birdman”. It’s a dark comedy from director Alejandro González Iñárritu.
It stars Michael Keaton, who plays a washed up actor famous for once playing an iconic superhero – think Batman – as he struggles to mount a Broadway play. The film co-stars Ed Norton as his egotistical lead actor, and Emma Stone as his fresh out of rehab daughter. Birdman also stars Zach Galifiniakis. They’re saying Keaton is amazing and they’re talking Best Actor.
A sequel to Magic Mike is underway, with the original cast and crew on board. Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Matthew McConaughay … This time it’s a road trip film with the fellas heading to a stripper convention – which actually exists. The sequel is called Magic Mike XXL, because of the extra large size of their hearts.
