One of the hotly discussed topics throughout this year’s mayoral campaign continues to be the whether to allow jets at the island airport and a new poll has found that residents are split over the idea.
The Forum Research poll found last week that 45% approve of using jets at Billy Bishop Airport while 43% are opposed to the idea.
At the city’s latest debate last night, John Tory said he’s still waiting for more answers about the proposed expansion.
“I want to work with the members of Toronto City council and they voted unanimously … to get answers to the questions,” said Tory.
Olivia Chow on the other hand said she doesn’t want to see an expansion at the island airport. “We have been very clear on where we stand on the island airport,” she said. “We don’t think there should be an expansion, we don’t believe there should be jets.”
