George, a 10-year-old goldfish has underwent successful surgery to remove a tumour from his head. An Australian veterinarian by the name of Tristan Rich saved George by knocking him out with an anesthetic, then inserted a tube from a bucket of water that contained the anesthetic and oxygen into the mouth so the water would wash over George as he was undergoing the surgery. The tumour was removed and George was stitched up with 4 stitches and glue. George has been returned to his owner and is getting along fine. The total cost of the surgery was $200. Would you have done this for a fish, especially one as old as George? What’s the most you’ve paid for a pet operation?
