A collective group of artists who are calling themselves Artists for a Better City have got together to create a new campaign song for mayoral candidate Olivia Chow.
Well, the definitely achieved their goal in creating a campaign song, but it may do the opposite of what they were hoping to accomplish in writing it.
The song goes through a long list of reasons why one should vote for Chow using campaign talking points.
Take a listen and judge for yourself, but I can’t imagine anyone voting for Olivia Chow after listening to this:
Yeah! Rock on Olivia!
Chow’s song follows the grand tradition of the Rob Ford theme song from Ford Fest in 2013:

LYRICS FOR “WHY WE NEED OLIVIA”
The next station is Olivia … Olivia Chow
When your bus doesn’t come for an hour-and-a-half you need Olivia
And when it finally does it’s totally packed you need Olivia
When riding your bike endangers your life (even with your helmet, your bells, your lights), but you keep on cycling through the cycling strife you need Olivia
Can’t find good child care for your kids you need Olivia
Can’t afford groceries and a place to live you need Olivia
Want to make art but you can’t afford to, try to be heard but they just ignore you, can’t find a good job well I assure you, you need Olivia
Tory and Ford are like peas in a pod. We need Olivia
Time to give a city builder the nod, we need Olivia
And our parks safe for walking, subway relief, trees trees communities, get yourself out to vote for Ohh Cee, we need Olivia
NEXT STOP [Musical interlude]
