If you decide to put a ring on it fellas, just make sure you actually pop the question before hand.
Debbie Lopez, a Long Island woman who broke up with her boyfriend, Joseph Robert Torres, can keep the $10,200 “engagement” ring he gave her because he didn’t actually propose.
The former couple went to battle in court after Torres cited a law that lets men retrieve their engagement rings if their wedding plans fall through.
According to court records, Lopez even told friends “Maybe, I don’t know yet,” when asked if she was engaged.
The judge ruled Torres didn’t actually propose to Lopez as he told her the ring was a gift “for being a great woman, a good mother of his child.”
“He asked her to marry him, and the defendant said absolutely,” Torres’ lawyer stated in court papers.
Did he deserve to get the ring back? Or did the judge make the right call?
