Ouch, that sounds kind of harsh. How about below average intelligence? That sounds nicer. A Caltech grad student by the name of Virgil Griffith wanted to see if there was a connection between SAT scores and taste in music. He looked at SAT scores of students at hundreds of American colleges and universities and this is what he found…
Those on the lowest end of the spectrum, people who had lower than average SAT scores, loved rappers like Lil Wayne, Akon, T.I. and Jay-Z AND bands like Nickelback and All American Rejects.
Those with the highest SAT scores listen to Beethoven. No surprise there. But they also like Radiohead and U2.
The people with average SAT scores like Pink Floyd, Nirvana , ACDC and Led Zeppelin among others.
Virgil admits it isn’t the most scientific study and there are plenty of factors that go into musical preferences but the results are fun nonetheless.
