Maple Leafs Valued At $1.3 Billion
For the 9th year in a row, the Leafs are the most valuable NHL franchise.
Forbes has released its annual list of NHL team values, pegging the value of the Toronto franchise at $1.3 billion dollars, up $200 million from last year.
The Rangers are next on the list at $1.1 billion, followed by Montreal, Chicago and Vancouver.
At the bottom of the list are the Florida Panthers, worth only $190 million.
And because of the Rogers Canadian media deal that kicked off in the 2014-15 season, the average NHL team value rose 18.6%, to an all-time high of $490 million.
The 12-year, $4.6 billion agreement is worth 2.6 times more annually than the league’s previous Canadian deals.
