PC leader says Liberal 'Grinches' disrespecting Christmas trees
Jim Wilson, Interim Leader of the Ontario PC Party, has failed to convince the Ontario Liberals to adopt a private member’s bill regarding Christmas trees.
He wants the 1st Saturday of every December to be declared Christmas Tree Day in Ontario.
He told the John Oakley Show this morning that the US deemed the entire first week of December as National Christmas Tree Week, which has helped boost tree sales considerably down south.
Wilson says such a day would support the local tree industry, which is an environmentally-friendly pursuit that deals with a renewable resource, as opposed to artificial trees that may last only a few years before they’re tossed into the trash.
Representatives of the $12-million industry say they don’t understand why they can’t get an official day to celebrate the province’s 647 Christmas tree farms.
Liberals have a majority and could easily have passed his bill earlier if they wanted, Wilson says.
Does Kathleen Wynne HATE CHRISTMAS? Is she avoiding the Christmas Tree issue, to avoid aligning herself with the Christian faith which may offend some of her voters?
