STORM WATCH: Snow Piles Up On GTA Roads
The GTA is under threat from… SNOW! Yes, it’s that time of year yet again, when a dumping of snow will send Toronto and surrounding regions into a state of panic.
Several centimeters of snow piled up in the GTA for the morning commute, and around 8:30 a snowfall warning was in place for areas north of Toronto including: Newmarket, Georgina, Northern York Region, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham and Caledon.
The GTA will see about 10 cm of snow hit the ground throughout the day, with a heavier dumping in the east.
Environment Canada is warning that the GTA could get 15 to 20 centimetres of snow by the time the storm moves on. In the east end of the GTA the snow is expected to stop by this evening, in the west end of the GTA, it’ll take a few more hours to taper off.
Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson labels this as “typical weather for the time of year”.
By 9:30 Thursday morning, Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville, Halton Hills, Milton were also under a snowfall warning.
Further north, the Barrie area, Muskoka, and areas off Georgian Bay can expect up to 20 centimetres as well. The warnings also include a note about gusty wind and blowing snow.
But that won’t stop tempers from flaring this morning!
What bothers you the most on mornings like this, when snow plays havoc with your commute?
Are you angry with the drivers who don’t have snow tires on yet? Maybe the snow plows haven’t cleared the roads to make your commute easier? Are motorists not clearing the white powder off their vehicle before hitting the road?
Or maybe your boss gave you a hard time because the snow delayed your arrival at work by 10 MINUTES!
What are your pet peeves this morning?
