Don't "Jerk" and Drive Campaign Pulled
Not pulled as in pulled, but pulled as in yanked… I mean taken away…
It was intended to be a safety reminder to drivers in winter weather to not jerk the steering wheel or over-correct when hitting icy roads but some felt the campaign slogan was offensive.
They felt the term “jerk” would make people think of masturbation and not focus on the real issue.
No, no, not at all…
The campaign was targeted at young male drivers who typically cause this type of accident. Coincidentally, they also masturbate frequently too.
Now the South Dakota office of Highway Safety who came up with the slogan has decided to yank the campaign.
“I decided to pull the ad,” said Trevor Jones, the Safety Department secretary.
“This is an important safety message and I don’t want this innuendo to distract from our goal to save lives on the road.”
