Ricky Cyr’s family wants bystanders charged over fight death
The family of a New Brunswick man who killed during a bar fight claims that the bystander who filmed the incident should rather have called for help.
The family of Ricky Cyr said the bystanders are partly responsible for the death of the 22-year-old on Jan. 2.
In the video of the fight, approximately nine people can be seen.
Tricia, Cyr’s sister, believes that what happened to her brother could have been prevented and should serve as a wake-up call to others.
“When you stay there with your little camera, and you’re watching it and laughing, call the ambulance, call the ambulance instead of filming with your telephone,” she said.
We live in the age of the smart phone, where everyone always feels the need to take pictures or film everything going on around them to share on social media. However, should bystanders who’d rather film an emergency over helping someone face charges?
