Mo's Digital Last Word: MIND BLOWN
In the world of literature, blockbuster crime author James Patterson has come out with a “novel” way to promote his new book. One fan will be given the chance to bid on a copy of “Private Vegas” that will self-destruct exactly 24 hours after the buyer begins reading it.
The explosive one-off book will be sold off for just under $300,000 as part of an elaborate prize which also includes a first-class flight to an exotic mystery location and a stay in a luxury hotel, as well as a pair of gold-plated binoculars, dinner with the author, and then an explosion supervised by a bomb squad.
A less dangerous prize is to be offered to 1,000 readers, who will be able to download a copy of the book for free, but the novel will delete itself from their device after a 24-hour deadline.
How is this something that anyone wants?
