Motion Device is ready to ROCK the world with their first full length LP
It was exactly three years ago on Q107 when Motion Device joined the Kim Mitchell show, impressing many by their rocking covers of Zeppelin and Sabbath.
Although that performance was much about the talented lead singer, 10-year-old Sara, so much has happened for Motion Device as group since. The band has over 6 million views on YouTube and is making a name for themselves with their own original material.
Motion Device was actually brought into Universal Music Canada where they inquired about Sara going solo and leaving the band for a pop career – needless to say our answer to that was an emphatic NO CHANCE.
Now at the age of 13, Sara Menoudakis is the lead singer of Motion Device, a rock band based out of Toronto. The band — rounded out by Sara’s 17-year-old sister, Andrea, on six-string bass and keys, their 15-year-old brother David on drums, and 20-year-old guitarists, first cousin Josh Marrocco and a close family friend Alex DeFrancesco — have already had one successful Kickstarter campaign, which resulted in the recording of 2014’s Welcome to the Rock Revolution, a five-song EP of original songs, which was recorded at Metalworks and has sold about 500 copies.
Now Motion Device are in the midst of their second crowdfunding drive which ends March 2 and is nearing its goal of $30,000 to help the group record its first LP and play some U.S. dates in the summer, starting with Cleveland (venue TBA) on July 25. Also on the wish list: stops in New York, Tennessee and Texas.
Why Cleveland? It’s the city that discovered Canadian rock legends RUSH – in particular female DJ Donna Halper of WMMS. It’s also obviously a good place to start because of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame connection.
The band is excited beyond words about the new material they’re writing and their first experience with Kickstarter was such a positive one they knew there was only one way to get this done. Crowd-funding is the perfect platform for a band that wants to make it in the music business on their own terms. Most importantly, we love the fact that the benefits from a project like this remain with the artist and their fans.
Motion Device is calling on all rock fans to back this project and help them show the world once and for all, that rock music is far from dead… it’s actually gonna be BIGGER THAN EVER!!
