WYNNE SAYS HOMOPHOBIA IS FUELING SEX-ED CURRICULUM PROTESTERS
Premier Kathleen Wynne is painting the sex-ed protesters at Queen’s Park this week as a bunch of homophobes. She says there’s no doubt about it in her mind. Hundreds of people protested the new sex education curriculum this week with many saying they feel the government is introducing ideas like same sex relationships and masturbation too early for some kids
LOBLAWS RECALLS CEREAL BRAND DUE TO PIECES OF PLASTIC
If you are about to pour yourself a big bowl of cereal, you might have to grab something else to eat. Loblaws is recalling PC Blue Menu Bran Flakes cereal because of possible plastic contamination. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the cereal should be tossed out or returned back to the store where purchased. The affected product, is sold in 775 gram packages with best before dates of Aug. 26 up to and including Jan.7, 2017.
YORK UNIVERSITY & U of T COULD STRIKE TODAY
CUPE says up to 10 thousand non-tenured academic staff at both Toronto and York University could walk off the job as of today. The group is looking for a modest salary increase to improve their wage to reach above the poverty line. CUPE claims that nearly 60% of the teaching is provided by non-tenured staff but less than 4% of the yearly operating budget is allocated for this role. If they do walk off the job, it would seriously jeopardize the remaining school year.
ROB FORD SELLING CRACK SCANDAL MEMORABILIA ON EBAY
In a stranger series of events Councillor Rob Ford wants to share a piece of Toronto history with you. On E-Bay Ford is offering a worn CFL jersey, some old pyjamas and the football tie he wore as he admitted to smoking crack cocaine while in office. 10% of the proceeds of each sale will go to local hospitals. JIAN GHOMESHI SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE BACK IN COURT TODAY
The Jian Ghomeshi case is back before the courts today. The former radio host didn’t show up at the last court proceeding, held earlier this month. Ghomeshi faces 7-sexual assault charges, stemming from allegations that span from 2002 to 2008 charges.
