This is a first… A Swedish man, 42 year old Roger Tullgren, is now able to claim disability benefits after his heavy metal obsession was declared an ‘addiction’.
He’s been ‘suffering’ for awhile apparently…”I have been trying for 10 years to get this classified as a handicap.” He’s got the tattoos, the long hair, he went to almost 300 gigs last year and says it’s an addiction. “I spoke to three psychologists and they finally agreed that I needed this to avoid being discriminated against.” He currently has a part time job as a dishwasher at a restaurant in Hassleholm, but this will be supplemented by disability benefits.
Wait a minute so because of his love of heavy rock, his desire to go to so many concerts and need to listen to the music all the time the government is going to pay him to hold a part time job instead of full time so he can continue to do all this? WOW.
His new boss reportedly will let him wear what he wants to work and give him time off for gigs, as well as let him play music as he works. Roger says “I signed a form saying: ‘Roger feels compelled to show his heavy metal style. This puts him in a difficult situation on the labour market. Therefore he needs extra financial help’. So now I can turn up at a job interview dressed in my normal clothes and just hand the interviewers this piece of paper”.
Just when you thought you’d heard it all.
