FREEZING RAIN WARNING FOR GTA
A freezing rain warning has been issued for many areas around the GTA by Environment Canada. They include Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, northern Durham region, Vaughan, Markham and Richmond Hill. Toronto is under a special weather statement calling for a chance of freezing rain. It is expected to begin early Wednesday morning for 2 -4 hours then change to rain by late Wednesday morning. Travelling conditions are expected to deteriorate Wednesday as untreated surfaces may become icy and slippery.
HWY 400 RAMP TO EB 401 DOWN TO ONE LANE
The ramp from Highway 400 southbound to the eastbound 401 collectors will down be to a single lane starting today until the end of the year. Motorists will now be dealing with delays through that stretch mainly through the morning and afternoon rush hour. Crews are in the process of installing extra road signs along the highway to give drivers real-time information on the time of delays. The construction work will be on-going until December.
MIKE DUFFY TRIAL ENTERS DAY 2 IN OTTAWA
Day two of the Mike Duffy trial will get underway in Ottawa today. Testimony is expected from a former senate law clerk who will explain some of the chamber’s rules. The crown will also have the opportunity to prove that Duffy was unlawful while spending government money on various things like travel and housing costs. The trial is scheduled to last at least 40 days.

A white police officer in South Carolina has been charged with murder after the shooting death of an unarmed black man. The incident took place on Saturday, April 4th in North Charleston and it was also caught on video. The video published by the New York Times was captured by a bystander and it shows a physical dispute between the officer and the victim before he runs away. The officer can be seen firing several shots at the victim, as he falls to the ground. Justice Department spokeswoman Dena Iverson says the Federal Bureau of Investigation will now probe the shooting. The officer arrested and charged is 33-year-old, Michael T Slager.The video has been made available by the Wall Street Journal.
WATCH: ARREST MADE AFTER TEENAGE GIRL ASSULTED IN BRAMPTON
Peel Police have arrested an 18 year old man in connection with an assault on a girl caught on video. The video was posted online and shows the man lift the girl and slam her to the ground causing her to hit her head on the sidewalk. The girl lost consciousness and was taken to hospital with a head injury before being released a short time later. It happened around 4:20 p.m. on Wexfrod Road near Bovaird Drive and Hurontario Street North. Police say Joshua Gordon from Brampton is in custody and at this point has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
