Are You Uber Drunk? Uber Will Help!
Uber Canada would like to make sure you get home safely after a night at the bar or if you’re planning to drink heavily at a party.
The taxi service says it’s launching a campaign to offer free rides for drunks. The company is test marketing a Uber Safe breathalyzer kiosks randomly throughout Toronto. Participants blow into the kiosk and if they’re deemed too drunk to drive, a free ride home is provided.
However, at this time it’s only a public relations move but they have already conducted tests at an unknown Uber safe kiosk here in the city back in March.
A video of Uber Safe was posted to YouTube this week:
The idea was produced by creative agency Rethink, and launched during a trying period for Uber’s Canadian operations, as various municipalities in the country are cracking down on the controversial company.
Mayor John Tory has defended the company in the past, indicating that Uber would maintain its presence in Toronto. However, a recent blitz across the city landed Uber 11 charges over the course of a weekend.
General Manager Jeff Weshler says Uber is constantly looking for opportunities to present its customers with new options.
