There is no doubt that Randy Bachman “took care of business” last week performing live at Mod Club Theatre. This Canadian legend performed in high spirits as he welcomed the audience with all smiles. Mod Club deemed to be the perfect intimate setting for those fans looking to relive the days of The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, or simply get a taste of Bachman’s newest album Heavy Blues.
A packed house crowded in early to enjoy the humble sounds of The Matinee, a Vancouver-based band that shed feel-good vibes to the animated crowd.
Bachman took the stage shortly afterwards, chiming in with the classic “Wild Texas Ride”. Although Bachman released his newest blues-oriented album recently, he kicked off the show with rock classics such as “Shakin’ All Over” (which he mentioned was the first riff he had ever played that made it to the radio) and “No Time”. Bachman continued the show with an extremely likable nature: continuously getting the crowd to sing along to hits, sharing stories of his youth, cracking one liners, and explaining how important family is in songs such as “Lookin’ Out For Number One”.
A wonderful surprise shortly came after when Kim Mitchell joined Bachman and his band mates. The crowd went wild as Mitchell jammed on guitar to “American Woman” along side Bachman, in an exciting and classic production. As the crowd continued to cheer, Adam Langley was brought on stage to make his debut as Q107’s “Rock Out With Randy Bachman” winner. The duo worked perfectly in sync as both danced around the stage in good humour.
To end off a fantastic show, Randy Bachman hyped down the excitement and eased into a soothing encore as the audience continued to applaud. Randy Bachman is a must see for those looking to relive the brilliant sounds of classic rock or simply be blown away by a stellar performance from a Canadian rock legend, who takes the audience back in time with his story-telling as well as his newest blues riffs.
