Joni Mitchell 'Alert' and 'Not In Coma,' Says Official Website
According to a number of reports, Canadian singer and song writer Joni Mitchell is currently unconscious in hospital unresponsive and unable to speak to anyone.
The singers website has denied that she is in a coma, which was reported by TMZ.
“Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma,” the statement reads. “Joni is still in the hospital — but she comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected. The document obtained by a certain media outlet simply gives her longtime friend Leslie Morris the authority — in the absence of 24-hour doctor care — to make care decisions for Joni once she leaves the hospital. As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight. Please continue to keep Joni in your thoughts.”
There are also reports of officials who say it doesn’t appear she will be getting any better.
It’s believed a close friend of Mitchell’s, Leslie Morris, has now filed documents to become her legal guardian. Morris has been Joni’s friend for 44 years and says she has no close relatives who could assume the role.
Mitchell was rushed to the hospital at UCLA on March 31st after she was found unconscious at her home in L.A.
