Captain John’s To Be Towed Away By End Of May
A Federal court judge has approved the sale of Captain John’s floating restaurant for an undisclosed amount. The ship is expected to set sail one last time by the end of the month.
The former landmark ship was sold to veteran ship scrapper Marine Recycling Corporation.
The city has been warned that the ship is in shocking condition and almost sunk twice in the last month. The ship will be towed by two tugboats that will haul it to a ship yard in Port Colborne.
The once fine-dining establishment which was shut down by public health officials almost three years ago and has been sitting at the foot of Yonge Street ever since.
The ship was seized by the court last year over back taxes and berthing fees that exceeded $1 million.
