The Music Of Our Lives/ The Power Of Song
There is an amazing new book about music available at KoboWritingLife.com. called; “The Music Of Our Lives/ The Power Of Song“. It was written by a local author named Rob Bruce, and has been previewed in this blog before.
Even as a first time author, Rob has an amazing insight into the world of music. He comes from a musical family, and has been fortunate enough to meet many of his music idols like Gordon Lightfoot and Randy Bachman and more over the years.
He covers a broad spectrum of styles from Jazz and Movie musicals, to Blues and Concept albums—and –OF COURSE– Rock music.
He invokes memories of some of the greatest bands and performers of all time, and explains how they influenced those who followed them. He also explains how various musical styles are related by simple changes in tempo, or key changes, and how some of the greatest rock “anthems” of all time like “Thunderstruck” and “American Woman” came about almost by accident.
He also researches the history of the trumpet and the flute, and looks into the lives of musicians like Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis and Moe Koffman and explains how their interpretations of their respective styles quite literally changed music forever. He even theorizes how different the world of music would be if performers like Buddy Holly and Jimi Hendrix were still alive.
Great work Rob!!
So if you want to take a musical trip back in time and relive your own “musical memories” please check this book out! It is also available at the Indigo e-books website, and some British e-book sites. Simply search by book title.
