Its been a short but intense week for a number of people, most notably Stephen Colbert, who seems to be settling into his new job as host of The Late Show. He had a very moving and honest interview with US Vice President Joe Biden last night, in which they talked about Biden’s son Beau, who recently died of brain cancer, and Biden’s reluctance to run for President.
I imagine it will be quite a different scenario when Colbert talks to Donald Trump.. The Republican presidential front-runner will stop by on September 22.
Both Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton originally turned Colbert down in favour of The Tonight Show, but changed their minds. Clinton will appear next Wednesday. They were probably concerned that Colbert would mock them, and he might, whereas Jimmy Fallon is more likely to get them to play charades, or Duck Duck Goose.
It’s been quite a week for so called comedienne Nicole Arbour, a Canadian performer whose “Dear Fat People” video went viral and offended just about everyone. The video, which is essentially a rant about how fat people should not be fat, netted Arbour an interview with Time magazine, but it also lost her a job as a choreographer on a movie about bullying. Arbour refuses to apologize for the video, which she insists is satire, and says it’s actually an attempt to make people more health conscious. I don’t know. This sounds like having sex to promote virginity.
