This Sunday brings us the Emmy Awards, and while there are many worthy shows and actors in the running, this is Jon Hamm’s last kick at the can to win a Best Actor Award. Hamm has been nominated 16 times , and hes never won. He has lost to some worthy opponents – 4 times to Bryan Cranston for Breaking Bad, which is regrettable, but understandable. This year Cranston is out, but Hamm is up against Kyle Chandler for Bloodline. Daniels is also nominated again, still for Newsroom. Bob Odenkirk is in for Better Call Saul. Liev Schreiber is nominated for Ray Donovan, and Kevin Spacey has his third nom for House of Cards.
No real idea what Hamm will be doing next – he can switch easily into comedy, or, from what I understand, pole vaulting.
Speaking of Bryan Cranston, while he is busy on the big screen, (Black Mass), he says he would be interested in revisiting “Malcom in the Middle”, where he played Malcolm’s goofy dad Hal. Frankie Muniz says he’s be up for it, because what else is he doing, and it would be fun to see what the whole family is up to 10 years later.
Speaking of reboots, its been 40 years since Charlie first sent his angels out to fight crime: Kate Jackson was the smart one, Jaclyn Smith was the sweet one, and of course Farrah Fawcett was the sexy one. Twenty years later, it got another reboot from Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu (with Bill Murray as Bosley, no less). Now Sony has decided it’s time to bring the franchise back, and Elizabeth Banks will be producing and directing. Maybe playing Charlie.
