Most people aren’t buying the claim that this app is designed to help boost people’s online profiles and assist them with their career and relationships. Many believe it’s just another platform for online bullying.
The app is called “Peeple” and it’s been designed by two Canadian women. The app works like Yelp or Angie’s List and allows you to review and rate people online based on your relationship with them “personal, professional or dating”.
You can’t review someone anonymously but you can review them, add them to the app, with just their cell phone number. You don’t need their permission. Apparently nobody will be able to see any negative reviews about you unless you sign up but you can’t see the negative reviews unless you sign up and you can’t at this point opt out. There has to be a privacy law violation there, not sure.
According to the company’s website “Peeple will enhance your online reputation for access to better quality networks, top job opportunities, and promote more informed decision making about people.”
You can read more on the Peeple App Facebook page here .
It isn’t live yet but that hasn’t stopped it from already being valued at $7.6 million.
