Chris Rock is officially set to host the Oscars in February. He’s done it before – back in 2005, back when it was a desirable gig. Coincidentally, the Oscars have a new producer – Reginald Hudlin – who directed the pilot for Rock’s hit series “Everybody Hates Chris”. Hopefully that will not be the case after the Academy Awards. The show has turned into the kiss of death, and did not do any favours for the last host, Neil Patrick Harris, who is still very popular, but inching towards game show host territory.
Speaking of Oscars, Leonardo Di Caprio wants one badly, judging by his latest movie, The Revenant. He plays a 19th ceintury frontiersman who is left for dead in the wilderness by Tom Hardy, whom he tracks down for revenge through the worst conditions imaginable. Leo says he had to wade through frozen rives, eat raw bison liver, and sleep in animal carcasses for real. He will most likely be up against Eddie Redmayne for The Danish Girl, who had to wear heels and a girdle, so it’s going to be a tough call.
On the small screen, it’s the end of an era. Mythbusters, the most successful show on the Discovery Chanel, is calling it quits after its 14th season, 248 episodes and 2,950 experiments. Stars Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman – who are famously NOT friends off screen – say the are planning a truly explosive final run for the series, which has been nominated for 7 Emmies. I really hope they prove there’s a God.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom have called off their divorce. A grateful nation heaves a huge sigh of relief. Khloe’s lawyer asked a judge this morning to withdraw the papers that were filed in December 2013. sat on it for a year and a half because she was hoping Lamar would go to rehab, but he didn’t, only to suffer a near death experience last week when he overdosed after a 3 day binge in a Las Vegas cathouse.
