It’s so very important to honour our veterans and to acknowledge and remember those who fought and died for our freedom. A poppy is such an easy way to do that, right? Buy one, put it on, done.
A lot of us do this but sometimes we wear more than one jacket/coat this time of year, we haven’t bought enough for all of them and forget to move it from one to another, or it falls off. That’s happened to everyone at some point I’m sure. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t taking part in Remembrance Day or honouring our heroes. Some though, still feel the need to poppy shame.
Wow did Sienna Miller ever get poppy shamed Friday night. She appeared with Bradley Cooper on a BBC talk show and Twitter blew up with people complaining she wasn’t wearing a poppy. (see below)
What I find far more appalling than seeing someone without a poppy on is the people who at 11am on Remembrance Day do not take a moment to stop and reflect and go silent but continue to gab to friends, talk on the phone etc. If you’re performing surgery in the OR I get it, but if you’re outside gossiping with friends on a smoke break (which I see every year outside the Q studio) that makes me sad.
