Contrary to popular belief, Bob Seger is NOT retiring and on the heels of his last album “Ride Out” released a little over a year ago now, he’s gearing up for another new release and a tour to follow. According to Billboard magazine he is going to put out and LP titled “I Knew You When” that will consist of “unreleased songs that he has updated”. 2016 marks the 50th Anniversary of Bob being a recording artist and he wants to celebrate out on the road with the fans. He was honoured on November 19th for Billboard’s Legend Of Live at the 12th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards in New York.
Billboard reports, “As for new material, Seger admitted writing songs “never gets easier,” and suggested that the weight of his own songbook has an effect on how he approaches current compositions, especially from a lyrical standpoint. “It takes huge chunks of time, and you’ve got to commit to an enormous amount of staring out the window waiting for the lyric to come. The music comes fairly easily, because I’ve been doing this for so long. But coming up with the right lyric is much more difficult — to write something that’s unique in its own way, and universal.”
No set released date yet but will be released in the new year.
