Everybody’s working for the Weekend at the Grammy Awards – the nominations were announced this morning, and the artist known as the Weeknd, otherwise known as Abel Tesfaye, straight out of Scarborough, Ontario, is up for 7 Grammies. Count ‘em. Seven. That puts him in second place for the most nominations, tied with Taylor Swift. Kendrick Lamar leads the packs with 11 nominations. The Weeknd is 25 years old, been in the business for 5 years, never won a Grammy, and he can’t feel his face when he’s witchoo.
Only two weeks to go until “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. $50 million in advance tickets already sold, and analysts are saying that, on the high end, Star Wars’ opening weekend could make $200 million, $250 million, or even the still-pretty-unimaginable $300 million domestic mark. Middle of the night screenings have been added. Scalpers are selling opening tickets for upwards of $200. It doesn’t appear that anyone at any point has stopped to consider the possibility that not only might it not change your life, it might not even be that good.
Blasphemy, I know. I just want everyone to be prepared.
