Scott Weiland who was found dead on his tour bus after playing a Toronto show a few days earlier died of an “accidental drug overdose”, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner in Minnesota.
The new report determines that a combination of cocaine, ethanol and the amphetamine MDA stopped his heart.
According to ultimateclassicrock.com, “Weiland had a history of cardiovascular disease, as well as asthma and multi-substance dependence, the medical examiner noted (His many run-ins with the law included a 1995 arrest with crack and heroin, and a guilty plea for felony heroin possession two years later.) The report places Weiland time of death at 8:27PM.
Police had found an “unknown white substance packaged in baggies” inside Weiland’s bedroom on the bus, packaged “common with the way narcotics are packaged,” according to a separate police report from that night. They also noted assorted sleeping pills, Viagra and Ziprasidone, which Weiland used to treat his bipolar disorder. Elsewhere, a bag of cocaine was discovered in the bunk of bassist Tommy Black, who was subsequently arrested. ”
Charges against Tommy Black have been dropped.
