Star Wars: The Force Awakens brought in $238 million over the weekend, making it the biggest North American debut of all time. The previous opening record was set by Jurassic World, which made $208.8 million this summer.
The figure does not include the $57 million Force made Thursday. Internationally, The Force Awakens brought in $279 million, bringing its global gross to $517 million — second only to Jurassic World’s global haul of $525 million. But Jurassic World had the added benefit of China — Star Wars won’t open there until January 9.
It’s estimated that The Force Awakens could make $2 billion by the end of its theatrical run.
