'Star Wars' set to pass 'Avatar' at US box office
The force continues to grow in mysterious profitable ways for Disney. Star Wars: The Force Awakens has broken another box office record earning an estimated $88.3 million dollars domestically in the United states for its third weekend, breaking the previous record set by Jurassic World.
Adjusted for inflation Star War is now the second highest grossing movie domestically of all time just behind Avatar which it is expected to dethrone.
For some consideration, it only took the new Star Wars 16 days to breaking $700 million, it took Avatar 72 days.
Globally the film has raked in $1.51 billion sitting comfortably at number 4 worldwide.
