This morning on the southbound DVP a broken down SUV was blocking the left lane (the shoulder isn’t very wide). This broken down vehicle stayed there for an hour jamming traffic. Each traffic report pointed out it was still there. When I finally went by they had the big flashing arrows out closing the lane, a police car on scene and a tow truck, but the SUV was still sitting there not moving. Clearly the driver was refusing the tow until his/her tow company came on scene.
When it’s your vehicle blocking traffic and causing a jam shouldn’t it be your responsibility to clear your vehicle at your expense? Or do you feel the driver should be allowed to wait until their tow company arrives regardless of the impact on traffic?
Perhaps this is something John Tory should be looking at as part of his “Get Moving” initiative.
