Drake To Get Key To The City
Mayor John Tory is to present Toronto rapper Drake with the key to the city on Friday night.
Tory announced the news on Thursday afternoon in a series of tweets and a video posted to Twitter.
This is a man who could live anywhere, but calls Toronto home. He wants us to be proud of him. And we are. I am.— John Tory (@JohnTory) February 11, 2016
According to Tory ”Drake is Toronto’s biggest champion: in his music, his mentorship of local talent and his presence on the world stage. He makes people feel good about themselves and their city, and he has drawn the eyes of the world to Toronto.”
In a statement issued on Thursday he added that ”he deserves our city’s recognition and our pride and I’m honoured to give him the Key to the City.”
The presentation is set to take place at the Ricoh Coliseum during the NBA All-Star celebrity game, where Drake will be coaching Team Canada.
It will be the first time that Tory has presented the key to the city since he took office in 2014
