On Derringer in the Morning we heard what the top ten most used websites are.
Derringer compared the list to (former Arizona Cardinals coach) Denny Green’s famous quote about the Chicago Bears;
“They are what we thought they were.”
But how many hits (unique monthly users) does each site get?
The default homepage on Windows computers receives 280 Million visitors a month.
The ‘customer-to-customer, business-to-customer’ online corporation has 285 Million users a month.
Everyone likes Google better, but Bing is just kinda there. So we still use it. And then usually switch over to Google when we can’t find what we’re looking for…It still gets 285 Million hits per month.
The increasing popularity of the social media site, and even it’s continued use as a breaking news source, has led to 290 Million users a month.
The online encyclopedia of (often questionable) information on every topic imaginable is used by just under 500 Million per month.
Online shopping has proven convenient and not as scary as previously thought. The online shopping and shipping provided by Amazon attracts 500 Million hits a month.
Yahoo’s web portal, search engine, and email service gains users for many reasons. 750 Milllion users a month to be exact.
And finally, the top three…
We all saw this one coming. Probably most people you know have a profile, whether they use it a lot anymore or not. The social media site even led to a movie about it’s incredible success, The Social Network. Currently it has monthly hits of 290 Million.
YouTube videos are a huge part of people’s lives now. From “YouTube stars” like Justin Beiber, to a news source, and a fun time waster, the video sharing site has 1.1 BILLION users a month.
Well, since we use it to find everything- even to find the other sites on the list, it makes sense Google reigns supreme as the most used website. The search engine has a record 1.2 BILLION unique visitors a month.
Really, you can Google it!
