Greg Lake has written a tribute to his friend and Emerson, Lake and Palmer bandmate Keith Emerson.
On his official site, Lake wrote “to all ELP friends and fans all over the world, I would like to express my deep sadness upon hearing this tragic news…
What I will always remember about Keith Emerson was his remarkable talent as a musician and composer and his gift and passion to entertain. Music was his life and despite some of the difficulties he encountered I am sure that the music he created will live on forever.”
Considered one of the best progressive keyboardists of all time, Emerson died Friday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at the age of 71. According to his girlfriend, Emerson was suffering from nerve damage in his hand, which was affecting his playing. He was also extremely worried about an upcoming tour in Japan because of it.
