City Exploring Toll Options For Gardiner & DVP
The City of Toronto has moved further down the road when it comes to the possible introduction of tolls on two of the city’s main highways.
A request for proposals was put out by the city late last week, looking for information how best to introduce tolls on both the Gardiner Expressway and the Don Valley Parkway.
The RFP calls for a study on a range of issues related to the possible implementation, such as how much road users would pay, where the toll booths would be located and who exactly would pay, with questions raised about whether the toll should just apply to residents and commuters or all people who use the road.
It’s also indicated in the 54 page document that tolls would apply to the entire length of the DVP, from the 401 to the Gardiner and the entire Gardiner Expressay, from just east of Highway 427 to Leslie Street.
The deadline for submissions is April 11th, with a report due on November 1st.
