Security Stepped Up at Union Station due to Terror Attacks
You may notice more officers patrolling Union Station.
Metrolinx says it is stepping up security at the downtown train hub due to Tuesday’s terror attacks in Brussels.
Security personnel are usually scattered across several train stations but officials decided it was best to concentrate their efforts at Union.
Union Station is Canada’s busiest transportation hub with a quarter million people passing through the area each day.
Meanwhile, The TTC said in a statement it has “heightened awareness service-wide.” Customers are being asked to report any suspicious activity.
Pearson International Airport tweeted that operations are running normally but asked passengers to check their flight status before heading out.
It tweeted a phone number for people to call if they have concerns about friends or family at Brussels Airport.
