Michael Stipes, the former singer of R.E.M. performed a tribute cover to David Bowie on The Tonight Show. He sang Bowie’s moving song “The Man Who Sold the World,” which was also famously covered by Nirvana.
He will be performing as part of the Music of David Bowie concerts, on March 31st and April 1st. Rolling Stone lists the other new artists that have been added to the concert roster, including the Pixies, the Flaming Lips and Blondie. Ann Wilson of Heart, and Cyndi Lauper are already confirmed as well. Stipes’ performances will be live streamed at musicofdavidbowie.com.
