If you’re an only child then let’s just assume you were the favourite. For the rest of us, a recent study determined that parents really do have a favourite child. Even the parents confirmed it in this study. Almost 3/4 of the parents admitted to treating one child better than another. So which child is most often the favourite?
This study looked at the links between differential treatment from parents, the siblings’ perception of bias and their sense of self worth. They found that birth order was a huge factor.
First born appears to be the fave if you look at the results of this research. In the study the eldest sibling felt like they received the better treatment from their parents, while younger children felt they had a stricter upbringing.
Interesting. Does this sound right to you? Were you the favourite?
