Suggestive KFC Tweet Goes Viral, Taken Down Within Hour Due to Backlash
The people who work on ads for KFC, as well as their social media team may want to rethink their strategies for marketing fried chicken moving forward.
This morning, KFC Australia sent out a very inappropriate tweet, albeit hilarious, to its more than 20,000 followers.
The tweet read: “WARNING: #NSFW. Something hot and spicy is coming soon…” beneath a picture of a couple sitting on a sofa — the woman smiling at something pixelated in the man’s lap.
I’m pretty sure the pixelated object was a bucket of chicken but when you pixelate something in the groin area, there’s only one thing people think.
Slap a BRAZZERS logo on it and we’ve got ourselves a porno!
Not surprisingly, the tweet went viral and was quickly taken down, (within an hour,) thanks to the backlash it received.
A statement from the company sent to the Daily Mail Australia said: “This was a genuine tweet to launch KFC’s new Hot & Spicy chicken products next week. It was not intended to offend and we’ve removed the image.” (Via: DailyMail)
We are very sorry for our earlier tweet on H&S - we didn’t mean to offend and removed it when we realised we’d made an error in judgment.— KFC Australia (@KFCAustralia) April 15, 2016

Wait, is KFC introducing jerk chicken? Was that the joke?— barry (@barrysaunders) April 15, 2016
KFC, if you are experiencing "hot and spicy" sensations in your genitals, I recommend you speak to a doctor pic.twitter.com/iGaYDdXTI0— mat whitehead (@matwhi) April 14, 2016
