A Los Angeles TV station has come under fire after it asked a morning meteorologist to cover up with a cardigan live on-air when viewers complained about her sparkling black dress. Liberte Chan was delivering the weather report Saturday morning when a grey cardigan suddenly popped into view. She asked the anchor, “What’s going on. You want me to put this on? Why? Cause it’s cold?” He replied, “We’re getting a lot of emails.” Liberte, looking confused and a bit unhappy, put on the sweater and said, “I look like, a librarian now.”
The awkward interruption quickly caught the attention of the Twitterverse, with many saying they were outraged that the TV station (KTLA) forced Liberte to put a cover-up on while she was doing her job. One person shared a screen grab of a 2012 weather forecast, in which the male meteorologist brought out two models wearing Frederick’s of Hollywood lingerie to help with the forecast. The user captions the photo: “Double standard much”.
The anchor tweeted later, “No shame. Just kidding, offering up sweater. Good friends kid each other. Sorry I offended. We have a good time.”
