Two spiders, which ranged in size from 10 to 20 cm, were spotted loose on an Air Transat flight headed to Montreal from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic last month. CBC News reported passengers were screaming and stood on their seats and were told by flight attendants to cover their legs. Ya no $%^$!!!!! These particular spiders, although aggressive, do not have strong venom.
It was towards the end of the flight when they were spotted. A passenger was able to catch one of them while the other was on the loose for the remainder of the flight before being found by a federal agent when the plane landed in Montreal.
Speculation is the tarantulas were being hidden in a passenger’s luggage for resale in Canada.
