Ontarians Really Like To Get Their Drink On
It was a record year for the LCBO, thanks to Ontarians hearty thirst for booze.
Sales in 2015 reached $5.57 billion, which marks the twenty-first consecutive year of record sales.
When you break the numbers down even further, spirits accounted for $2.1 billion in sales, wine was almost $2 billion, $1.8 billion was spent on beers and ciders, and over $88 million was spent on gift cards.
The LCBO is also reporting beer sales of $7.9 million in grocery stores.
Beer was made available in some grocery stores last December, with wine and cider headed to shelves later this year.
